“I knew we’d lose him one day, I just didn’t think he’d be alive when it happened.”

When my father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, I had no clue how devastating this disease truly would be. But over the next few years, my family would lose the man we knew as the strongest man we knew… while  he was still alive.

Dani Klein Modisett has had a similar experience. But she’s turned her personal family circumstances into a passion project. Dani founded Laughter On Call after seeing first-hand her mother who has Alzheimer’s benefit from comedy care.

Writer-comedian Dani has been performing comedy for over 20 years. Dani taught the art of stand-up comedy at UCLA for over a decade and has produced numerous live comedy shows all over the U.S. Her work has addressed some of the biggest changes in a person’s life—from marriage and parenting to caring for an aging parents—and how humor can help. Her positive, upbeat personality encourages everyone who comes in contact with her.

Dani has published Afterbirth: Stories You Won’t Read in a Parenting Magazine an edited anthology of stories that focus on laughter and the family life and Take My Spouse, Please, a how-to-laugh-more in your marriage book that works!

The Laughter On Call Team is made up of experienced comedians, eager to provide hope, one laugh at a time. Each professionally-trained comedian on our team brings his or her unique talents to working with seniors with dementia and other mental challenges. For the team, it’s an opportunity to share a craft we love in a way that truly helps and to build deep, one-on-one relationships with our seniors.
